Privacy Policy

PetComplete helps you keep your pets’ health records organized and accessible. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the controls you have over it.

Information We Collect
Account Information: When you create a PetComplete account, we collect your name, email address, and password. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
Pet Profile Data: You provide information about your pets including name, species, breed, date of birth, sex, weight, and profile photos. This data is used to build your pet’s health profile.
Uploaded Documents: You may upload veterinary records, insurance documents, prescriptions, lab results, and other health-related files. These documents are stored securely in our cloud infrastructure.
AI-Parsed Health Data: When you upload a document, our system uses an AI model (Anthropic’s Claude API) to extract structured health information — such as vaccines, medications, allergies, conditions, and lab results. This parsed data is presented to you for review and is only saved to your pet’s profile after you explicitly confirm it.
Usage Data: We collect standard usage data including pages visited, features used, and session duration to improve the product experience.

How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve PetComplete — including building your pet’s health profile, generating health summary reports, creating reminders from parsed document dates, and enabling the vet access features you control. We also use your email address to send transactional messages such as password resets and vet access notifications.

AI Document Processing
PetComplete uses Anthropic’s Claude API to parse uploaded documents and extract structured health data. When you upload a document, its contents are sent to this AI service for processing. The extracted data is returned to PetComplete and stored only after you review and confirm it. We do not use your documents or parsed data to train AI models. Anthropic’s API usage policy governs how data is handled during processing.

Data Sharing & Vet Access
Veterinary Professionals: You control who sees your pet’s data. Veterinary professionals can only access your pet’s health records if you explicitly invite them or approve their access request. Access is granted per-pet and can be revoked at any time. Vets with approved access can view your pet’s health profile, documents, and medications in read-only mode.
Shareable Health Reports: You can generate a shareable pet health summary report with a unique link. These links are token-based and can be revoked at any time. Anyone with the link can view the report — share it only with people you trust.
We Do Not Sell Your Data: We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or your pets’ health data to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

PetComplete relies on the following third-party services to operate. Each has its own privacy practices:

Data Security
We implement technical safeguards to protect your data, including row-level security policies on our database ensuring users can only access their own data, secure authentication with hashed passwords, HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, and access-controlled file storage for uploaded documents. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Your Rights & Controls
You have control over your data on PetComplete. You can edit or delete pet profiles and their associated records at any time. You can revoke veterinary professional access to any pet. You can revoke shareable health report links. You can delete uploaded documents. You can request deletion of your account by contacting us. When you delete data, it is removed from our active systems. Backups may retain data for a limited period before being purged.

Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data, pet profiles, uploaded documents, and parsed health records from our active systems. Some data may persist in encrypted backups for a limited time before being automatically purged.

Children's Privacy
PetComplete is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice on the platform. Your continued use of PetComplete after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
